I was commissioned by Harlem Biospace to create a decorative painting for their new innovative office/lab rental space in the historical Mink Building. They wanted the painting to capture Science and West Harlem. I propose to create a painting that intertwines an aerial map of West Harlem and a microscopic view of a plant stem. They loved the idea, so I went to their space to see where they wanted the 5' x 12' painting and what colors were in the space.

The painting on the left is the map of West Harlem. It captures 116th St.to136th St. and 12tth Ave to Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd. Buildings shown are the Harlem Biospace Mink Building and Sweets Laboratories Building, Jerome L. Greene Science Center, Columbia University Science Building and Library, and CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. Also if you look close enough at the middle painting you can see metallic silver letters spelling out the word Harlem.
